Their mighty steeds in pastures laze grown fat from under-use Where once the thunder of their hooves alone might yield a truce The luster of bright armor fades its joints succumb to rust no longer used for purpose made in causes good and just Sharp lances in their holders lay as well great-sword and dirk as knights dream of the battle fray whilst seeking other work Malaise has spead across the land where once fierce conflicts raged regretably poetic jousts these days are seldom staged My steed may be somewhat obese but he's still good to go I bought some "WD" today the kind that says"4-0" Though lance, great-sword, and dirk to some appear a common pen to those I wouldst most humbly broach they come and get it then In olden days the poets' joust brought mirth unto the land ... for memories of gauntlets thrown and lines drawn in the sand |

Doc, that is a well-crafted piece, and a refreshing read to this reader (as is usual with your poetry.) Mark |

Sunshine, Thank you, I know you've followed some of those exploits here and had a chuckle or two. Lol, who knows, maybe chivalry is just taking a nap. Doc W.T. Thanks for dropping by, I don't post often of late and am glad you liked this nostalgic piece saluting other times. Mark, Thank you. I do try to blend the subject matter with contemporary stylings and throw in a touch of humor. Quite simply, I enjoy making people smile. Doc |

I'll join Alison in her chant. *S* But I can chant and clap, too... and this deserves applause! *S* |
