Mother's Hats My mother's hats were beautiful, With feathers, flowers and such. She cared for them so tenderly. Small hands must never touch. She always wore a hat to town, To church or lady's tea. None looked as lovely in her hat As Mama did to me. She perched it high upon the top Of her long, auburn hair. When Easter strolling with my dad, They made a handsome pair. My mother's hats are hanging now As heirlooms on my wall. I think of her still wearing them, The fairest of them all. Joyce 2/25/09 |

Joyce, this is so sweet. I remember my Mama wearing her hats when I was small. And, I always had an Easter bonnet. Hugs, Ethel Ethels Love Poetry My SpiritIsUp Poetry Shelf Powered by CGISpy.com |

Dear Joyce, this is soooooo lovely, I think your dear Mom smiles from Above and enjoys your poem too. In certain times hats were a must. I adore hats too. Love, Margherita |

This is simply lovely. Women were so elegant in the era when they wore hats. It's a shame they don't anymore. Thanks for this very nice write. Eric |

Dear Joyce that is such a sweet poem, it reminded me of my Mum, as she always wore a hat when she went out. Thank you for sharing this one with us. A big hug my dear. Lindsay |

Joyce, thank you for sharing your mother ~ and her hats ~ with us! I have fond memories of my own Mom and her Mom, donning their hats in front of a mirror. I can still picture them sticking pins into their pill box hats to secure them. A very lovely poem that conjures up warm memories for me as well. Love, Linda |
