Oh, dear dear Alison!!! To behold this spectacular view with my eyes I would gladly accept to shiver in the cold, standing in awe and in gratitude for this Divine gift. You move me deeply and I can really say that I am stunned and that you made my (birth)day! I will cherish it forever. THANK YOU, dearest Alison, for your beauty. Love and hugs. Margherita |

Margherita, Words can not convey how often you have touched me with your kindness, creativity and warmth to others. I wanted to offer something that tapped into the spiritual side of you - I am happy that you like this piece. Happy day, Margherita. It's your day and I love you. Alison |

Thank you Alison and Margherita for your sharing natures - Alison for sharing the giving of the beautiful birthday presents to Margherita - and Margherita for sharing the receiving of them. Alison, I saw your exquisite photograph-presents to Margherita in her birthday thread. That gave me a dilemma. I wanted to comment on the photos publicly, but I didn't want to do it in Margherita's birthday thread, because that was her birthday thread and I wanted any message of mine to be to Margherita. However, now that you have added a poem to one of the photos, I can comment. Thank you for your beautiful poem, and the two beautiful photos with which you honoured our lovely Margherita. The photo of the glacier from the 4-seater plane (how exciting that must have been - and difficult to take such a magnificent and clear photograph from) was stupendous. However, the other one, the one you added the poem to here, is the most beautiful, exciting, magnificent, unique (I know there are no shades of unique, so "most unique" isn't logically correct, but you will know what I mean), stunning, wonderful (as in its original meaning, to be placed in awe of) all-sorts-of-other-things-that-I-can't-put-into-words-now photograph I have ever seen in my first 63 years. Other than that barrage of words before this (none of which express in any measure whatsoever what I am trying to say), I am speechless - or to be more accurate, words fail me. Yes, words have definitely let me down - or I have let them down. However, I don't know why I am rambling on like this, because you saw the scene; you took the photo; you have eyes; and oh boy do you have your senses; so you know how great the photo is. So I shall stop trying to say exactly how great the photo is and allow us both to look at it again (and again and again and . . . ) Owl |

And those exact words in that exact poem are the only words and poem which could ever be perfect enough to honour that photograph. In 63 years, I don't think I have ever thought exactly that thought about any poem and its accompanying photograph, no matter how beautiful either was. I went rambling on about the photograph and all I said about the poem was that it was beautiful. I couldn't get back to my post as it isn't showing yet (except in the Print view), so I couldn't edit it. You are mega-gifted Alison, both as a poet and a photographer. I hope you haven't forgotten my request for that book on Alaska with photographs, poems and prose. It will be very expensive to buy, I know, but it will be a best-seller and a must-have for all who can afford to save up for it. Owl |

I am struggling to get out of this posting. Each time I try, I see something else that catches my attention. This time it is how you put in the text of the poem. The photo is so beautiful (etc, etc - I won't ramble on about that any more) that there is almost no way that one could have added text without spoiling the photo - no way, other than the way you did it. The words are clear, but so non-intrusive and with the glow they speak about with the ice-shadow to them. I hesitated on the ice-shadow because it sounded cold-hearted, but it isn't. It may be freezing cold, but the ambiance of the photo, the poem and the font is God-warm. Also that ice-shadow (to the best of my meagre knowledge) isn't stark white, but softened with shades of grey. In fact (I keep hopping back to the photograph to see what I am talking about), I see that one of the reasons why the main colour and its shadow blend so perfectly into the photo is because they really do echo the two of the colours of the photo exactly. Alison, your poetry and your art reveal a perfect blend of your exquisitely fine art and accuracy into a perfect whole. No wonder you have such a following, not to mention what a lovely person you are, to boot! Owl |

Again I come in here to enjoy this gift, His divine gifts honored by your gift of creativity, dear Alison. I have shown my husband and my son this and the b-day post with the glacier picture and they too were impressed. I would have adored to be on that small plane with you! The view from above is one of the most exciting experiences for us to enjoy. It's a great pleasure to read also Diana's and Linda's effervescent enthusiasm and I agree totally with them. (((((Alison))))) Have a wonderful Sunday all. Love and hugs. Margherita [This message has been edited by Margherita (02-22-2009 07:56 AM).] |

The big G was ultra-kind to me this weekend. No speeding tickets, even though I passed a few coppers on a one way four- hour drive, twice.... I like the picture, and the little poemski. Good shtuff, you dress to impress. -P Some people fall in love and touch the sky, some people fall in love and find quicksand. |

Sue, Thank you. I was inspired by a beautiful poet of PiP. xoxoox Alison - Diana, I don't really know what to say. You have been so incredibly supportive of me in my efforts as a poet and a photographer. You are one of the kindest people I have exchanged thoughts with (on line and off line) and you are one heck of a cheerleader. Thank you for all the kindness, support and encouragement. I am lucky to have you as a friend. The pictures - well, I am lucky. I live in a beautiful place. There is no doubt in my mind that anyone could take the pictures that I do. I think I just take the pictures that many others think about taking but never do. Again, my thanks to you. Alison - Thank you, Linda. No, I don't really think of entering my pictures in contests. Don't know why really - I think it is kind of like publishing my poems. I love to dabble and I am good at it. Not too sure that there is much more to me than that. Love your dabbling friend, Alison - Diana, If I ever do a book or anything other than here, you will be the first to know. That's my promise to you. Thank you again for all that you give me. Love, Alison - Margherita, It thrilled me that you shared these with your son and husband. I am a lucky woman for sure. There were no dogs on the plane - so no licking (grins). Love, A - Lindsay friend, Thank you. Love, Alison - Mark, Thank you. I think she deserves far more than my efforts. She is a special one. Alison - Yay, VM. What good luck you had. Thank you and I hope you remain in the good graces of the "big G". A |
