. Driving by with An other woman About for whom I have not even Begun to pretend To care That house on the corner Stands stark and white Beneath leafless trees This year’s last snow Is melting away And water is running Down the crumbling road Those wooden eaves Are in need of repair The gate broken open And slightly askew A rusted fence There are no lights In the windows And no young man Waiting for his girl In a car outside Once upon a time In a different era When faith itself Was young And love sincere . . . What place is this And who then lived here As mattered so much So long ago Well my dear However much You’d like to know I have no idea . |

Fine slice of 'life, love, and time passing' write!...[superb imagery] serious and long-sustained applause for this most effective 'penning'! |

Poignant and powerful vision of another place and time. Such a feeling of longing in these words, Ida |
