Winter blues are beautiful, except... when they last past mid February while the spirit wants spring, and the eyes crave the capricious crocus, a robin's song, and the body cries for kisses of golden sunlight on frost bitten nose and cheeks, when numb fingertips yearn to dig rich warm earth to plant seeds of life. Winter blues are beautiful, but tonight, spring greens are on the palette. |

A child of the seasons . . . I'm sculpted by it too. |

I like the way you stay with your metaphor. Nicely done. And it reinforces the way I'm feeling. I planted a rose bush 3 weeks ago. Okay, we've had freezing weather a couple of times since I planted it. Maybe I was a little teensy bit premature, but I WANT spring! I WANT green! Nan (Pilgrim variety) |

I am anxious to get out into the yard and plant something too, Kacy. If it ever stops raining. The weather was beautiful a couple of weeks ago. Hope your spring come soon. Ida |

Kacy, this is delightfully Kacy - and delightful! I am inspired by your spirit. I refrained from emailing you, as I didn't want you to reply to me. It is Tuesday, and you are about half way through your chemo right now. I am praying very, very hard for you for everything that is good. Lots of love and gentle hugs Diana |

Now craving the embrace of spring. Wonderful metaphor and definitely enjoyed the way you embraced it throughout this piece. |

Midnitesun - spring is just around the corner, I can smell it. But of course some winter blues are just great, like snuggling in front of the fireplace... BC |

Happy warm Spring thoughts to all! The reality is, Winter's frosty face is still up front close and personal. The round red robins and cheerful crocus are still in winter snooze mode. On a side note??? The American Robin (Turdus migratorius...this name gives me a chuckle) is now being 'blamed' by some as a key transmitter of West Nile Virus. I fear some misguided gardeners will attempt to destroy this harbinger of Spring. We've already destroyed so much wildlife and avian habitat, it's no wonder the world's wildlife population is rapidly declining, alongside most gifts of the natural world. Still, I welcome my feathered friends openly, unabashedly grateful for their beauty, their songs, their ability to spread seeds of life, and to bring smiles to millions. |
