I saw the place I once looked at with child eyes and baby feet where I once saw a castle I now see a shack where I once saw a dangerous jungle I now see a murky grove where I once saw adventure I now see nothing. how the years have changed me since I was a lad knee high and a super hero with a woman to save now I'm an adult with only work as my comfort bills on the table piling higher and higher as it will soon rival mount olympus where did those lazy days of summer go when I ran around barefoot and shirtless my skin all aglow with tree branches waving like swords through the air pirates and cowboys and indians in my eyes space rangers, aliens, and animals too all seemed like things to helo me get through yet I had you there as we pushed and we shoved said who was better and who could be who I wish it was simple like it was way back when but now it's a tragic shakespearian end maybe I could go back and swing back time reaching higher and higher, easily I climb yet nothing changes in this world that I live trapped inside responsibility and other such things oh but I'll remember those sweet little days when granchildren come over and crawl around my short hairy legs I'll tell them whoopers and tales like they've never heard before make them smile and laugh and feel good inside the way I did when I was young the way I did yesterday |
