It should be dusk,
yet it’s a brightly lit sky.
Full of stars,
and little creatures gliding by.
They fly, with such determination,
but nothing can compare
to your exaggeration.
“Oh! It’s so late! We’d better turn in for the night.”
But still,
I join in with
“Yeah, I guess you’re right.
We wouldn’t want to let
the bedbugs bite.”
Every night, you and I,
we play this game.
But in the end,
it’s always the same.
We run upstairs
and hop in bed,
and in our minds,
go over what the other has said.
We cuddle up close
and turn on the TV,
and dream of what the other could be.
You see,
we’re still too young to be truly free,
but our hearts hold us together,
you and me.
