The hallways are crowded with kids And they're angry and they're scared Afraid to be different For what will that mean? God Forbid it's let out who they truly are So they follow the crowd You know who you are Modeling your life after someone else Paranoid about what you wear For after all, isn't that what matters most? You like what's "in" and follow the trends Yet deep down inside, is that you? Do you secretly cry into your pillow at night? Wishing you could be someone else You all know who you are That boy who smokes Pot 'Cause his friends all think it's cool The 8th grade girl that got pregnant After all "everyone's doing it...right?" The other day, my friend got expelled Seems he said he wanted to "blow up the school" He didn't think the principal would hear Now there's no graduation for him He's the one you see in the dirty clothes Looking wasted and stoned Look a bit closer, look into his eyes He's seen more pain then most will ever know It's too late now...he's gone Superficial things such as being obsessed With what others wear and how they dress Really won't get you anywhere Then again, thats known to everyone...but you Get a life, I don't wanna see you On the corner of route 52 with your thumb in the air ------------------ "They sing the stories of the present, of people trapped in a shadow world" ~Charlotte Seley~ |

Moving poem. I like the message in the poem. I think it is so sad that teens feel like they have to be like everyone else. If you ask me individuality is beautiful! Great poem!!!! ------------------ |

Katrina I can't agree more, individuality is beautiful, I see so many people who spend all their time and effort trying to be like everyone else, it's sad. I'd rather be my own person Raven ------------------ "They sing the stories of the present, of people trapped in a shadow world" ~Charlotte Seley~ |
