How could anyone ever want more
Then the long ago days of childhood
Seeming to be only yesterday
When I would catch fireflies on my lawn
It wasn't that long ago I suppose
Now that I'm 14
Yet the magic that I once believed in
All to soon disapeered
I remember searching for leprechauns
In the grass on Saint Patricks Day
Writing notes to Santa Claus
Who always wrote back
The tooth fairy was beautiful
She made my teeth into fairy dust
I always left out carrots for the Easter Bunny
He was polite enough to eat at least half
Back then my tears were of physical pain
Such as a scraped knee
I liked boys even then
Yet they never tried to go to far
We were innocent
We were pure
Ignorant too I suppose
Blissfully happy children are
They just might be far wiser then most
For they are truly color blind
Except to beautiful rainbows
Now I will erase this poem
And struggle to become someone

I think you captured the feeling perfectly. At 15, I still sometimes feel like that. I praise you on a job well done!

Alwye,

Thank you, it's often I wake up on certain sunny mornings and forget I'm not a child of 5, its very bittersweet to remember

Raven,
Wasn't chidhood the best? Sometimes I wish I could stay in my P.J's all day and watch cartoons. That was the best! I really like your poem, boy can I relate (and every other teen can to, I'm sure.) Great job!
