Guess what everyone! My parents are allowing me to do the foreign exchange student program my junior year of high school. I have narrowed down the list to: 1. Ireland 2. England 3. Scotland 4. Wales 5. New Zealand 6. Italy You really should have seen it before. Does anyone have any advice? It is greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Brigid WillowKeeper |

Ireland! But take an umbrella! From a book of Irish humor: "It only rained twice last week, once for three days, and once for four days." ![]() |

OH! New Zealand. No, Ireland...wait, how about Scotland!!! AT least, in those places, I'd half-way understand the language! LOL... How exciting! Can I pack myself into your bags? |

What a difficult choice! Playing Devil's Advocate again, why not Ecuador or Peru, or Putugal or Japan? LOL, guess it would be a case of drop-the-names-in-the-hat-and-pick for me. Wherever you go, make sure you keep your pen busy with imagery snapshots to share with us here at Pips. ![]() |

I've just come back from wales, visiting a friends family, I'd never been before, despite only being in England, but oh, it was lovely! I went to the city of Cardiff, and it's very beautiful, such friendly people, with great accents! I went on loads of bike rides around the several parks (got a sore butt and aching legs!), visited the castle, museum, and of course did some shopping. I'm sure whichever you choose will each have its little adventures, have fun! Instant karma's gonna get you. |

sorry, I am already packing all my other friends in my bags. Man, you guys all have differant opinions, now I am confused even more. Here is the explanation for why not peru etc...I have always wanted to learn about the celts, I have always wanted to learn about my Italian roots, and New Zealand! Well if you have ever seen the gorgeous landscapes in Lord of the Rings... |

The landscape in Italy is equally gorgeous. Incredibly so. New Zealand and Italy would be my first two choices. It would be nice to meet a few of our Downunder Pipsters, but I think it would be even nicer to be immersed in a new language, especially one so beautiful and with such historical significance. |

Has to be Scotland. Best poets, mountains and sheep. Sale from Oban to Castlebay in Barra and you'll never want to leave (providing it's not a force 12) And Scotland's got the most beautiful capital city in the world. And if you really HAVE to, you can always take an away-day to England to see what you're not missing. New Zealand's got more sheep, I grant you, but our's are more intelligent. Besides, New Zealand's full of Scottish people anyway. [This message has been edited by Craw (09-17-2003 06:45 PM).] |

3/5 of your choices involved the British Empire (and to my British friends, my apologies for not including Ireland). My recommendation would be that you choose one of those three. Now, which of them?? Scotland, Wales, or the Motherland??? (My family is from that area of the world). read up on the three of them, and decide which of them interests you most. My choice (if it were actually mine to make) is to live in England, and visit the other two. I spent a bit of time in Peterboro (which is just outside London) and had a chance to travel around the Midlands, and south into Avon and Devon, with a side trip into Dumferling (I know I spelled it wrong) just to say I had been to Scotland. It is absolutely gorgeous country all the way around. Whichever your choice is, please keep us informed, and- as was requested before- don't deny us your talent for the entire year. We are all equal but we’re individually different |

I must salute your eccentricity choosing Dunfermline as a Scottish excursion. |

This is so cool, my dream is materializing! Ok, either New Zealand, Scotland, or England. It is slowly narrowing down. |
