Understanding is different for everyone, depending on what they've experienced and what they've felt. Some people might not understand your poetry for different reasons. One may be the maturity level, because some are too young to understand such complex concepts. However, posting in another forum will not guarantee you understanding. Asking someone or a group of people to understand your poetry will always give you different view points. Their views will differ from yours, and sometimes it's easy to take it as a misunderstanding of the concept you had in mind. In any case, if you do feel that your poetry is misunderstood, feel free to explain the concept so that you can share your ideas with others. It won't necessarily improve their understanding, but it will clarify many things. But feel free to post in other forums! I'm sure everyone will want to read what you have to share. ![]() |

I strongly encourage you to explore other forums. Personally, I am a member of 4 (Sparknotes.com, Plagiarist.com, Piptalk.com, and dungeonmanpoetics MSN group) and it really helps because it doesn't limit the views (as mentioned in other replies). A trend I've noticed while surfing around forums is that some skill levels are different, as well. For some, it's a good board to start on, as others are really brutal and you should expect some serious criticism. It's kinda like weight-lifting, start small and work up to build poetic strength. -I don't need a signature- |

One thing is that not everyone is going to get exactly what you mean. The art of poetry lies in how many people relate to what you write - even iof it isnt what you meant to write. If someone gets a different perspective from your writing - that is very cool because it shows you can reach a wide audience and you have touched someone because they have read it. Whether that be three or thirty. Also, replying to other people's poetry helps them to get a better understanding of you Hope this helped xxoo |

To somethinginyoursocks, Just because a board is brutal doesn't mean it is a more sophisticated place. And the question spritrider87 asked, as I read it, is not about other boards but rather about other forums in this place. spritrider87, Is that why you were talking about leaving? If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |
