Relax, Riley - Every year of your life is to be the "time of your life"... But the "partying" thing is really a fallacy - There's much more "life" happening outside the party than there is inside... "A Day at a Time" is a good motto to live by... ![]() |

Sweetheart you're probably better off not attending TOO many parties. I mean the homework in High School can be he!!. Really. I have to agree- take it one day at a time. Sometimes that's the only way to do it. Otherwise you go absolutely nuts and are lost in a whirlwind of activity. Let me just say Get Your Homework Done FIRST- then go out and have fun. Life is SO much simpler that way. Have fun you're in for quite a ride. I don't know if today is a good day, or if yesterday was, or if tomorrow will be, but I'd like to think so. Ri Don't listen to these grannies. Go party 'til you can party no more. ![]() Just kidding yeah... it's good to have fun but, I know you, Riley. You're not like the other kids... are you sure you would even have fun at some childish party? Would you be constantly distracted by something that you couldn't explain to anyone else? Would you catch a glimpse of the sunset and wish you could share it with anyone around you? The party mentality tends to drown out some of the aspects that I know you admire most in yourself. I could see you being the girl who always goes home early. Then again, I might be wrong. It doesn't matter how you embrace those most wonderful years of your life. Personally, I'd spend them in preparation... give something back to the community... get involved in volunteer programs, spend some time with that sort of thing. When it comes time to apply for universities, THAT is the kind of stuff you'll look back on your childhood and wish you had done (TRUST me, that's what I'm wishing I'd done right now). Don't let your social life bum you out. You're a poet, so naturally it's going to seem sometimes that you don't quite "belong." Just remember, there's nothing wrong with taking some time to yourself instead of partying, or doing homework... just take a walk in the park to let all that stress wear off... it might make you feel better. Talk to you soon. ![]() Brian Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world. |

I gotta agree with that... parties aren't all they're made up to be. In fact, if you're not careful, they can easily hurt or ruin your reputation and your life. That may sound like an exaggeration, but believe me, it's not. And like LP said... when you get to your last year of school you ARE going to be wishing for a perfect transcript. I know it's crazy going from middle into high school. Just remember to keep time for yourself... and don't ever be afraid to drop some things until you do. Good luck, girl! Talk to ya soon! |

Hey Riley? What LP said? Good advice. I never was invited to many parties because I just didn't fit in. I was either talking over their heads, or too shy to talk at all. Much too serious as a kid - however, I never ended up in jail, or had an opportunity to shame my folks, either. It's young people like you that make me proud - and so what if I'm an old granny? ![]() [This message has been edited by Sunshine (05-21-2003 01:43 PM).] |
