Why do people hide their heads in the sand and say we can't do anything, we just have to accept things as they are? I'm sorry but I do NOT believe that! In everything in life, we can make a difference, it may be only little but we CAN!!! We can be supportive, pray etc etc. Praying DOES make a difference in a lot of ways - firstly it is heard, secondly it comforts us and allows us to feel as though we are doing something. We can hold meetings, bang heads - brainstorming etc. I feel that too many people sit around saying we cannot do anything. And maybe if they did try things would happen, small or larger changes may come about. Sure, I know us saying we don't want war, can't change it, that is a different kettle of fish, but generally speaking.. I think more people should pull their heads out of the sand and see if they can make a difference. Your thoughts on the matter? Isis |

Hi old friend..I agree in so many ways, to everything you said here. The only comment in addition is that sometimes people get too deressed or overwhelmed and feel like everything is hopeless, though it may not really be. Luv Sandra |

For every action, there is an opposite ...a reaction. The ostrich syndrome never did work. And I'm not sure the ostrich really even sticks his head in the sand, as I was told as a child. You are right, there is much to be done. Curbing our own appetites for more MATERIAL THINGS over the feelings and basic needs of others...that's a good place to start. Thanks for the thoughtful message. |

Unfortunately, many of us tend to believe that if it doesn't directly affect us, there is no reason to do anything. I believe that is the root of the problem. It's always easier to say "I'm not gonna worry about that, someone else will take care of it". We never stop to think that maybe that "someone else" is us. "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety" |
