Today at work I was thinking that I really never asked anyone's permission to join this group. I just jumped in and started posting poems without permission. I am sorry if I overstepped any guidelines. If I have; I apologize to those in responsible positions in this group.

It's just that I have written poetry all my life since I can remember. It is always there. At times I wish I didn't hear all these words in my head. I have prayed that this poetry would leave me. I have no idea about poetry; having never studied or taken any classes on the subject. I hardly ever read it, yet feel compelled to write it. I wrote it in my bedroom alone for years with no one knowing of it. Most farmers ( I come from a farming background) do not write their feelings down on paper under a lamp kneeling by their bed. So, if I barely comment on any poems, it isn't that I am too conceded or anything, it is just that I have no idea what to say about it except that I like it or that I don't. I have no higher criticism to give than that.

To those who have said they enjoy my poetry…well I am glad because I have no idea if they are good or bad. I just write what "comes" to me. When they "come" I mean that I have to be ready to write them down. I literally spend no more than 10 minutes on any poem. It is just too tedious to invest more than that. I know this sounds strange but that is the way it has been since I can remember.

The only real piece of advice I can offer on poetry is that it is supposed to feel good after writing one. Even if the poem is on death it still should purge one of negative feelings so that life seems brighter after it.

Oh well….enough blabbing. I like this group. Other poetry forums are like sharks feeding on one another.

Robert

Welcome to Passions, Robert. You'll find that its a wonderful place to come and share your words, and much much more. You'll find friends here
The way you write doesn't sound strange to me at all. I don't know much about poetry either. I write by the sound, if that makes sense to you. And in the end, does it matter what method you use to write? Just let it come to you, write it down, share it.
We're glad to have you share it with us here!

However, we would ask that you post poetry to the poetry forums and messages to such as this to the other appropriate forums. This being the case, this thread has been moved to the "Feelings" forum. Robert, Wecome I also have no formal training, or lessons in poetry. I write them as they come. I love to play with words, and decorate them so it's like a game to me. I amaze myself at times thinking I could not have written that. There is some marvelous talent at this place as I am sure you will find, and through that it will help you learn different ways of writing. Everyone here is wonderful, and I hope you enjoy this place as much as I have.
