I can write little private notes at any time. Today demands something more. I just wanted to gush about how fortunate I am… EVERY day I get a ride to work, without ever having to ask. It was not required the first day; nor was a request to make it a habit on the second. If I don’t drag my bike along -- without a word from my mouth -- I get another ride home. Those nights, as soon as I open the car door I have a pair of arms around me, lips against me, eyes on me, smiling, ears to listen to my adventures. I come home; the place is clean, the laundry done, my book (which undoubtedly fell unto my sleeping face the night before) is marked, resting on the dresser. If I want to crawl up and read all evening: okay. If I want to fool around on the computer the entire night: okay. If I want to stay out till late hours with friends: okay. See a movie? Play a game? Dinner out? Take a walk? Take a ride? Just sit for an hour talking, touching, laughing? … Sure. No grief, no complaints, and when I offer my gratitude: a roll of the eyes and a smile. “It’s NOTHING,” I hear. “I love you.” Then all night: fingers grazing my neck, a kiss to my forehead, a wink and a grin, five thousand ‘I love you’s, attentionattentionattention, ruthless teasing, giggling, deep laughter, long gazes, shared silence, a ready confidant, understanding, silly antics, delightfully evil tricks, kindness to an astonishing degree. Every day I am made to feel so loved, so wanted, so incredibly necessary and cared for. A million little favors are granted to me hour by hour… and I NEED to express that I recognize and cherish them. I have to say that I am blessed, truly. My life has become better, fuller, sweeter, more than I have ever dared hope for. To the person who has made this a possibility: THANK YOU. I love you to the very core of me. If only we had known.  Makes us old married folks a bit jealous I must say. You both are very lucky, and all I can say is that it's sooooooooo sweet that Chris treats you so well. I'm very happy for the both of you, and I hope all this 'goodness' will last a lifetime for you both!  There's nothing better than to feel someone genuinely cares about you and what happens in your day. That has to be the best feeling in the world to feel so loved!  |
