My name is Chris, and I'd like to hear comments or opinions on my poem "Don't cry little angel". It poested on the main site under Friendship Poems. It is a part of the More friendship poems page. And the author is me...(Chris). I haven't written much poetry since the last two I posted...and that one has the most votes. I'd like to here more comments or opinions to help myself confidence so I can write and post more poetry. Writers block has gotten the best of me. So if anyone can help...I'd appreciate all the support. |

Hi Chris - Welcome to the forums - You'll love it here... For those who don't know how to search for a poem on the main site, just click here to read Don't Cry Little Angel. I think this is a wonderful poem, Chris - You definitely need to do more writing - Might I suggest, though - If you want feedback from our poets here in the forums, post your poem again here... Choose any forum - Open#9 is the main forum (with the most activity) - The Corner Pub is good for a slower pace - and Critical Analysis will get you a full critique from our resident poetic masterminds... First, Chris, we don't really encourage posting poetry in the Discussion forum. Yes, this forum is for Feelings, but its focus is more towards the discussion of feelings. You'll find you get a much better response in one of our poetry forums - if only because the people frequenting them are looking for poetry. It's not a big deal, Chris, but I thought I would mention it. Second, while we might discourage poetry in a discussion forum, we discourage this kind of poetry in ALL of the forums. Any post that seems to justify harm to a human being - either another or yourself - fits in very poorly with our philosophy at Passions and is in direct conflict with our Guidelines. We simply do not feel the words of a writer should encourage others to hurt a human being. Poetry that makes suicide seem like a "good thing" or a "reasonable solution" to a problem are little different than suggestions that murder might be a good thing or a reasonable solution. I know that writing about depression can be helpful, can be cathartic. But writing about it and sharing what you write are two different things. Sharing this kind of work with youngsters or people struggling with their own problems can be responsible for encouraging exactly the kind of behavior the writer is trying to prevent in their own lives. That's not the kind of responsibility Passions wants to accept, and I suspect it's not what you want either. The person or persons you should share this kind of poetry with are the ones who can help alleviate the feelings of depression. We all face temporary depression from time to time. But chronic depression or depression that leads to suicidal feelings requires clinical attention, not comments from a bunch of untrained poets.
