There are a lot of folks that can't understand how we ran out of oil here in the USA. Well, here's the answer: It's simple.........nobody bothered to check the oil. Didn't know we were getting low. And of course the reason for that is geographical. All the oil is in Texas and Oklahoma, and all the dipsticks are in Washington, D.C. Anyway, those are my feelings............ |

Well Heather, it could be worse...you could be in Michigan. Prices were about $2.50/gal for reg unlead a few weeks back. Now, they're hovering between $1.69-$1.90/gal for reg unlead. And Balladeer, I have to agree with you. Alicat |

Well, the prices keep fluctuating here as everywhere else I suppose. At the ONLY gas station I ever get gas at anymore, it went from $1.42 to $1.39. Its still a bit high, but at least it gets better once in a while. WOW! ![]() ![]() ![]() Nothing can deter a poet, for he is actuated by pure love. Who can predict his comings and goings? We're plunging down to $1.28...a Washington dipstick must've come through KS on I-70 on his way to his Colorado retreat and got stuck... Sunny ~~~Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. Helen Keller ~~~ When you want to be loved, look within...KRJ |

I thought those words looked familiar ![]() LOL but so true! Ours went down to 1.49-1.59. And that's great for me! Though of course, just a year ago, it was less than a dollar a gallon! I would love to see it go back down to .98 a gallon ![]() |

Hey folks...don't feel too badly. When I was a teenager and got my first car, gas was .19 cents a gallon and I was *****ing about that! Of course, that was a 1000 years ago and, at the time, I was making .85 cents an hour washing dishes in a coffee shop. Balladeer is certainly right about where the dipsticks are located. |

My husband is in petroleum production, so the price increase makes me even more confused... right now he is working more hours than he has been previously, yet gas and oil prices get higher ...HELP!! I don't understand!!! |

You poor darlings, so hard done by..*g*...try £0.82 per litre, so that's roughly £0.82 * 4.5 = £3.69 a gallon... ![]() I wonder which country is the most expensive, anyone know? HUSG |

Gas has come down a bit here, to about 1.45 a gallon. Last week, it was 1.65 a gallon. The United States has reserves that could last the entire nation 5 years (without any addional sources). Have they been released? (I don't think so, but I could be wrong. There are no dipsticks in DC. Trust me. Just squeaky oil cans. ![]() Sometimes, we just have to pay the price..... but it's worth it if it gets us there. Nothing we can do about it. ![]() |

Well, I had heard on the radio that prices were coming down in lots of places, but it would be sometime in the middle or end of August before Mississippi would start seeing the decline. The gas station where I faithfully fuel up is down to $1.35 per gallon now. I am thankful for that right now at least. |

If everyone in the country would unite we could drive the prices back down to where they should be. Simply pick one of the major companies and boycott them. Matters not which one. If everyone would stick to a pledge to buy no fuel from say "exxon" until the price per gallon was at the level of 1998 with a small allowance for inflation..(which as we all know is way low the past few years)... just a thought |

I agree totally!!! We should have went on stike the day the prices went up.....LIKE THAT WOULD HAVE DONE ANY GOOD!!! The bottom line is WE NEED GAS!! And THEY know that...as long as we use it they will raise the prices!! Julie :) |

JulieAnn-- certainly we have to use it,,, but what we do not have to do is buy from a particular company,,,,, They may resist for awhile,, but when they begin to drown in their own oil watch them drop the prices...either that or go out of business |
