So, as i have stated in numerous philosophy discusions, I am a non-believer when it comes to organized religions. I was baptized and confirmed a Catholic, but quite honestly my beliefs are mainly worldly-in the sense that I intend to be the best person I can be morally and personally while I am alive and kicking. In essence my belief rests on living in the moment.

Don't get me wrong I still have faith, just not theistic faith. But my parents apparently can't accept the fact that I'm not as Catholic as I once was (ie: Fallen Catholic). They seem disappointed in me for it and it hurts-to be honest.

So, any advice on how to deal with this situation.

It's only a feud if you fight back.

So you could just assume the posture you have in that pic, and change the subject--but I do hope you will at least listen to your parents' point of view with the same regard and respect that you'd like to receive from them.

I, too, left the Roman Catholic church before I found the reality of God. I was never told some laws are biblical while others are imposed by the Catholic Church. Since learning this and that God NEVER changes, I've become a delighted Christian.
I couldn't understand how it can be a very serious sin to eat meat on Friday, then it's done away with?  How can forgiveness be taught but a divorsed person refused the sacraments?  Those things bothered me because they're not Godly.  Nor is charging for prayers to be offered for loved ones.

How thankful I am to know the real loving unchangable God.  Jesus said, "Follow Me!"  Learning how He lived, what He did and said, maps our path for living.

Just speaking from a parents perspective with a children who are no longer active in the church(or any other) that they were raised in. It isn't easy to see your children not chose the basics that you taught. There is no feud in my family however, as I know that I was responsible to raise them to the best of my ability. They are responsible for the rest. But I still pray everyday and trust that God is in charge and it's his job to figure it out.

Serenity said it best - don't fight back. As a human being one of the most wonderful things you can give yourself is truth - just stay true to yours, and don't worry about anyone else.
