definitely, it is better to try and fail than to not try at all

I don't care if you think I'm a fool but don't ever tell me so

Branden...

Of course!

I remember you...and it sounds as if you've had the world handed to you in a little body that makes for many diaper changes.

Welcome back. Read, change diapers, feed the baby, write, work, change diapers, feed the baby, do the laundry, write, and be a part of the real world.

Your experiences will enable others...

encouragement, discouragement, wisdom, life experiences, more wisdom, do's and dont's...

you've so much to share!

Share well, wisely, and with love.

Spit, shake, and throw some thoughts away.

We're here to listen, to learn, and help, if we can, with thought processes and encouragement of our own...

You've taken on a heavy load.

You can unburden here, until the baby cries. You've gained many aunts/uncles/and grandparents of many st/ages....

but you will find yourself again, and a way for your child...

I know you will. I hear it in your question.

Dear Branden,

I'm afraid you may fall in with a tough crowd here, rowdies, ne'er-do-wells, Balladeers, would be humorists, crusty ex-marines, school-teachers and former schoolteachers out on a spree. Liberals, Republicans, Libertarians and fans of language.

In no time at all your poor kid is going to find you sprawled in front of the computer surrounded by dog- eared thesauri and creased and misused dictionaries with ink running from your lips.

Why would you waste your time with stuff like that, spending a reasonable and inexpensive amount of extra time at home with your kid when you could be drowning your sorrows in cheap whiskey?   I hear there are women who like men who have poetic souls.  That's what my wife tells me.  On the other hand, what does she know?

     Sincerely yours, BobK.

On the other hand, if poetry bores you, stay away.  Why waste your time doing something boring when you don't have to?

Branden!

Helllooooo there!

It is SO nice to see you.  It has been a while, but the wonderful thing about Passions is ... the door is always open.

I've been away for a while myself, but I keep popping in to enjoy a read and a smile. I'll bet being a dad has kept you pretty busy and that there's a whole lot you could be writing about. That would be great!

I am just SO pleased to see your name here Branden, and I just wanted to say hello. Reminded me of some wonderful and really busy Teen Poetry days, lol.

Best wishes and a big welcome back hug,
/Kit

Hi Branden

I used to write a bit in my teens/early 20's then stopped for a long time (I'm now 37). I've only started  getting back into writing in the last 18 months and wish I'd returned to it sooner.

Good luck and enjoy

When the urge hits... do it.  I don't think you should force it.  If you want to write and the urge just doesn't seem to be "hitting" - sit or lie down w/ a pen and paper by your side.  Sit by your baby if you like, and just free write... whatever comes into your head, even if it's dumb and you find yourself writing "Huggies" and "baby slobber" too much.  Lots of interesting things slip onto my paper when I do this.  Good Luck Branden!

PS - You don't have to write well, just write. I don't pretend to be a good writer.  I gave that up long ago... but I am a writer at heart and it does help me out.  I about had a panic attack the other day and guess what...I ended up writing a poem called "BATTLE" instead.  It was pretty cool... no panic attack on the inside and fresh words on the outside.
