Zzyzxian Eclipsian Celestiality

There’s such a pile of mystic poop
That won’t begin to compost,
As if some druid who couldn’t read
Had the whole scoop, or almost….

But there are those astronomers
Who wax all demagogic,
And I can’t morph its beauty
Into solipsistic logic.

I’m left with this: it’s nothing
About stars on the ecliptic,
Nor earth and moon both swerving
Round some orbital elliptic.

I like to watch and that’s enough,
So I won't pick and choose ‘em,
My honey and my telescope –
I’ve got two arms; I’ll use ‘em!

I know a tiny desert town
Named just to be amusing,
Last in the book but first in mine:
Its dark skies I’ll be choosing.

Though it’s a strange amalgam
Of astrology and physics,
Come next eclipse we’ll celebrate
The Syzygy in Zzyzx!

It came to me the other day, that it had been a while since I'd written a poem and had fun doing it -- always that good feeling of creating something new, but not fun...   That's all handled now -- this may be silly, but writing it was a joy!

Oh my goodness! I know where Zzyzx is!
Was this poem as much fun for you as
it was for me?

Yep -- and I love that little non-burg.....just for that name. I hear they actually named it that because they wanted it to have the last name in any atlas of the world....and succeeded!

Oh yes....though it's a bit of a stretch to call it a town, even in the desert......

....my second favorite town name is Why, Arizona....an excellent question in itself...to which the answer is, because that's where the mule died.

Giggling through one of your poems might not be the norm... but finding excellence in every line is. *S*

This is delightful!!! But do be warned... when you're famous and your poems are required reading, every elocution class is gonna hate you for this tongue tangler! LOL

pssssttt... *G* Don't think I didn't notice... you RHYMED!!! (oh happy day!!! LOL)

zzzzzzzzzzat's funny...

smiling

mystic poop

even in that, there dwell universes within universes

Y'can tell a lot by poop, mystic or otherwise. That's why docs always want a sample. For example, did you know that poop which sinks to the bottom is prolly full of unabsorbed minerals (sometimes which mineral can even be distinguised by color) which can indicate a vitamin deficiency?

And then there's cat poop--considered a delicacy among dogs because the short intestinal tract in the cat renders its droppings considered edible by dogs.

Then there's...

well,

I obviously know more than my fair share about poop.

Thanks for the smile Ed.

LOL!! Oh boy do I ever know about that stuff! In addition to some non-physical kinds which roughly five people on the planet (three of them PiP members, alas) have sent my way from time to time.....

You might say it's my family business!

Wow.

I have gone from amused to bemused to confused.

Family Business?

Not sure I wanna know...but just in case it's plumbing maybe you are referring to, I could sure use some advice about the dreaded wall mount toilet.

As for who e mails you, Ed? Zat's more information than I needed thank you.

I'm on small portions these days. More efficient digestion, yanno. *laughing*

Yep, I just finished one of the chapters in the main manual that's used to run sewer plants..... most definitely a family business!

For the rest, oh, haven't had any deliveries lately so my supply's running a bit low....maybe I'll go drum up some business! The shocking thing, given how cantankerous I am, is that it's so few!

Really?

Great. bouncing grin face here

Then you do know--the wall mount toilet only accepts so much, um, debris, right?

Now I suspected that a tree fell on the sewer--but nobody was around to see it, so surely that couldn't happen, right?

But the fact is--it just won't flush proper without a little added pressure.

Actually, that's kind of a neat metaphor right there, methinks.

*chuckle*

Some days it does pay to chew through the leather restraints.

thanks Ed

I'm back to amused.

Oops, neglecting our Suthern gal here.....

....and I KNOW how you deplore being ignored, having seen it! (Should I.....?)

I also know that you know, how much I appreciate your kind words....you understand my work so well. And yeah, I do break down and rhyme once in a while....sometimes both at once!
