Night Queen In Preen
~*Marge Tindal*~

She readies herself for the plunge of night
taking on an almost transparent sheen
Sets about to strut her favors
portrayingthe Night Queen In Preen~

Scenting the boudoir with heady perfume
she offers herself up to all
Sort of becoming, if you will,
Cinderella of her own bloomin’ ball~

Knowing she burns with beauteous fire
She turns with a smile to onlookers admire
There’s no time to waste in getting right to
the object of her desire~

She spreads her petals, as though she knows
this moment will be caught in lens-glance
She curtsies to the throng of paparazzi
This is her star-studded chance~

The spotlight knows she’s ready
The applause commands a bow
She has preened full-circle
There is no stopping her now~

let me know when it is LOVE that I find*~ <))><

I loved this.  I really felt like I was the princess in the story...like I was at a royal ball dancing with the handsome prince...and we danced until the dawn approached the skyline.  Lovely write Madame Marge!

Oh my goodness!!!!!  I can't believe it.  Marge, my mother has a plant like this...in fact, I think recently my sister, Miscellanea, may have taken it.  It is, we think, well over 50 years old.  We waited for years and years and years to see it bloom.  And, it was well worth the wait!  The plant sprawled all over the room it was in and as a teenager, I used to call it the monster....it was not a very pretty plant....but we grew to love it so....and that blossom....Oh My Goodness!  I'm hoping to send my Mom a copy of your poetry and the photos.   ....jo

Dear Marge:  What a spectacular series of photos and the poem is an inspired write!
Is this a Cereus?? I have never seen one but have read about them and I know they don't bloom often and always at night! Thanks so much for sharing this exquisite piece!

I feel as though I witnessed the emergence of a goddess! I was filled with awe and wonder with both the photography and the accompanying poetry!

Truly a treasure of a post!

Marge,
Some times you do it and some times you do it right. This time you caught the ring.

You ALL are such a *gift* to my heart ... how could I not share this beauty with you~

Yes, a Cereus, ... funny thing though, it is 'said' that they only bloom once a year ... but this one has already given us three blooming treats !

This time ... I brought her inside (on stage) for the opening curtain !
SHE was stunning ... we literally sat and watched her emerge into full bloom ... the aroma was enchanting~

The blossom begins to open ... and in little staged spurts ... reaches the climax of blooming ... then takes her bow just at rise of sun !!!
(I know ... I watched !)

I just love being able to share these beauties with you all~

I would almost say a blossom beyond words, but you found the most fitting words to describe it.  Thank you so much for sharing this rare beauty dressed in custom fitted poetry.

Marge,
Jo forwarded your thread to me.  I can hardly believe how wonderfully anyone could portray the magic of this plant in photography and poetry.  Your photographs contain much more detail than my 'sleepy eyes' observed during those long awaited moments of blossom!  I knew the plant was breath-takingly beautiful, yet, not nearly as beautiful as your photo renders the blossom!  Yes, as Jo indicated, my mother has the plant.  She recently set one or two of the leaves in water to take root.  Can't wait until they do!  Thanks for this marvelous treat!

What a beautiful flower this is!  I have never seen a flower as this.  What is it called?

I enjoyed your verse!
