I got inspired by Elizabeth Santos poem today, called, "Three Friends" /pip/Forum92/HTML/003511.html#6

I thought, seeing they just happen to be my friends too, I had to write about them.
Thanks Lizzie for waking the muse with your inspire.

Personal photo embellished

I trek the early morning hours alone,
Stretching limbs slothfully to embrace this day.
Staring at naked toes planted firm on dewy grass
I wish my feet to sink so I can only feel her.
Trying not to intrude on nature bathing her
I creep near to breathe the musk of her dusty coat,
Hesitating to touch what I need feel the most.

Darting, dashing hummingbirds peek out to see
Dare I lay my very heart into her extended palm
Turned now upward to hold my prayers?
Limbs extended feel they hold me or is this some mirage?
I move to close to remember how it feels to touch her.

These signs of time now turn my mind back
To the soulful healer she once became.
She, sought out whenever tears held in were
Too heavy with universe about to burst,
Wishing to only drain away any goodness
Of spirit left, depleting the very life from me
With each heavy sigh, peaceful air exhaled.
She rejuvenated my soul.

With my ear to her, I can almost hear
That steady beat of life taken away from her
Under the stars, and moon one night in a whisper.
Now the net of dissention cast out to catch me
Holds me even closer to her this early morning.

Above me her light dances across my eyes
Through blinding yet struggling rays
Exploding in pearls of sparkling dust
On each drop of dew settled on growing grass
Where busy ants and wood ticks doze so lazily.
I know it is only earth that is the wall
Between you and I, so I wait.

Oh how I treasure these majestic reminders of you
For in this Irish dreamer’s mind
The moon, stars, and a weeping willow tree
Have become the only comforts to my lonely soul.

This was beautiful, but I must admit...

Weeping Willows always make me sad, and for personal reasons I guess.  I always said they looked like they were crying

Glad you made this one smile to me

I'm glad Liz inspired this lovely piece, Sharon. Both the picture and the poem honour Willow in a beautiful way. Such a wonderful and emotional write, much enjoyed.

Thank you everyone for such kind words, I like to keep her memory alive so I can still see her face every now and then.  It's funny how in time we sometimes forget how they looked up close isn't it?  These help to put it back into some perspective for me.  Again, thank you as I am having real trouble writing a thing these days, time, and a missing muse I guess.

Sharon,

I adore these lines:

Dare I lay my very heart into her extended palm
Turned now upward to hold my prayers?

perfection . . . I used to stare at this huge tree in my mom's yard my entire teenage years and it gave me such comfort, as does this.
(She held my prayers for many years, too.)

I think I will have to write of happier times too, there were plenty of those.

Maureen, you have a great gift of words trust me.

Actually, those are the three things that are constant reminders of a wonderful friendship now in transition.  The moon, stars, and ANY willow tree.  Thanks again for reading my ditty.
