I'd Carry You |

I’d Carry You I’d carry you if carrying could be, past all of this, the hurt, the loss, across the yawning abyss of an undeserving pain. I’d lift you softly, turn your face away and close your eyes; float us together to the other side, and when the world was safe again I’d find a place of joy and beauty, leave you gently there upon a steady path. I’d carry you if carrying could be, to spare you this though sparing is denying, and some roads do not grant a choice of ways. The canyon must be crossed, and you will cross it hand by hand, climb walls of agony to find the other side. I’d carry you if carrying could be, but I cannot, and so I give such grace as I can share; to lay a willing hand upon your shoulder, and to let you know for any comfort it may give, that you are not alone, and that I’d carry you if carrying could be. -- from 02/03 because it's February |

very nice - it made me think of someone who was ill, that though they could not be carried, they still have someone who loves them standing by their side - it's all I could think of as I read it - just wanted to let you know. I really liked this. |

Ed, this is one of the most beautiful poems that I have ever read. It shows what a kind and loving heart you have. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Hugs to you, my friend Ethel |

For almost a year, I've looked upon this poem as one of the most beautiful I've ever read... If the saying is true that to know another's trials and tribulations, we must walk a mile in their shoes... how much love and compassion there is in the offer to carry them that distance. Incredible write... from a heart without equal. |

Your poem made me cry. I waited a moment and read it again and it touched me deeply. Everyone needs to read words like this on a bad day. This is the type of poem I place on my refrigerator to give me inspiration. One of the 10 best poems I have ever read. I commend you. |

I think the most telling line is the last one. Just because. |

This brought tears to my eyes... I'm not too sure why, maybe it's because these are words that everyone wants to hear. Maybe it's just because I wish to hear these words, and I feel better hearing them, even when they are not for me. I'm keeping this in my library, and thank you. Always, Alyssa He was a man of sorrows |
