Near golden sunsets

Only Iambe loved her,
but she left long ago.
Now Hannah hides in her shadow,
dancing amid dark memories
that I can only catch in her eyes.

The Texas heat damped our hair;
or it could have been the brief minutes
I held Hannah close in my arms
before she pulled away.

Starlight blazes on her bared shoulder,
playing on perfect curves,

drawing out the silence.

The fear shivering along her skin
screams she can't let me in.
Her one bared shoulder taunts me
with secrets and desires.
I'm dying to see the rest of her.
