Teardrops Of Rain

Dribble dribble drip drop
splitter splatter splish splat
soulful drops of water spash the windshield
a day so surreal, grey reflections...I feel

a respite from pain
a ride in the rain
smoothness of motion
numbs the emotions

the comfort of being
of feeling, of seeing
that life still goes on, the world still turns
the sky still cries
big teardrops, after a loved one has died

windshield wipers keep time
rhythm and rhyme
the road ahead glimmers
with teardrops wet shimmers

dark clouds in the sky
splashes of rain
remind me
I'm not alone in my pain

traffic flows in a steady stream
across the highway, headlights beam
through the twilight mist
so brightly, they gleam

in each of these cars, a person so real
do they nurse the same wounds
do they feel what I feel?
do they cry the same tears
have they lost someone dear?

though some days are bright
memories of loved ones we've lost
in spite of sunlight
will always remain
to comfort us
like teardrops of rain

No fair, you have learned to read my heart   Your poem speaks to the  pain awakened in each of us who have experienced a previous loss, by another new loss to grieve.  Lyra, I thank you for the goodness of your heart.

There is nothing means more to me than
my faith, my family and my friends.

Lyra, this is so beautiful. I lost my brother, when he was 26 years old. That was about 20 years ago. I still miss him, so much. I couldn't even find his grave so I could go visit. Still to this day, whenever I think about him, tears form in my eyes. I didn't even get to see him at the funeral home. My oldest daughter had fallen out of a tree and I had to leave as soon as I got to the funeral home to take her to the hospital. I didn't even get to say goodby. I never even had anyone to talk to about him. I'm sorry! I better stop writing.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Lyra, this is so very sad but so filled with love too, sweet friend, while I have never experienced a loss close as this yet, I can understand how they feel and my heart goes out to the too, for I have felt so much tears in my childhood and still do today! (BIG HUGGGGGSSSSS) God Bless You, sweet friend, you are a true angel, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lyra, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Thanks Karilea...So sorry, I forgot the kleenex warnings...I actually thought about it, but got so distracted by creating a link to the poem in Sharon's message in the feelings forum, that I forgot all about it...

You're so welcome, Sharon...Your little piece in "feelings" just brought this poem back into my head.
I think I've finally figured out why so many poets love the rain.  Its probably because it reminds us of tears we have shed, and of course...this is what many of us write about.

Oh Sue...I know the feeling of never saying goodbye...I never got to say goodbye to my older son either; but at least I know where he's buried and can visit him there...

I am so sorry for your loss...and thanks so much for your reply.

You are a sweet, sensitive young man, Noah...You are a real sweetheart and someday, I just know that you will make the very best dad in the world....

I think there is a special tenderness about men who are not afraid to cry.

Thanks so much for your reply...

Lyra, you always write straight to the heart.. this is, of course, no exception.

forget about kleenex warnings, this one requires an old-fashioned handkerchief.

Wonderful, emotional, truthful write..

Thanks so much Martie...I think David has been my only spot of sun in a very long time.
I'm very nervous about this Wednesday...it seems that I've had absolutely no good news since the beginning of this cancer thing...and yet, here I sit...feeling healthy as ever...
I can't figure it out!
