In the streets of an unfamiliar land, while the gang was bargaining strategically with calculators and warm gracious smiles, I felt my stomach rumble Not wanting to distract them from their merry-making, I thought I would and could endure (after all, I was army-trained) Until my face contorted into a strange mixture of agony, wimpy grins and an act-tough noncommittal look and I wabbled out from the shop, doing a mean impersonation of Donald Duck the first word you have to learn in a foreign land is "toilet" but i guess my linguistic lapse was compensated by my frantic dashing to the backs of shops and leaving abruptly for the next while my poor companion tried to catch up and enlighten the bemused some angels finally gave directions and i wobbled and wabbled my way to the bowl~my saviour, trying not to exert too much energy in case.....(you know) i kept my head down for the rest of the night [This message has been edited by faterider (05-10-2002 02:01 AM).] |

This is really funny! I thought you were hungry when you said your stomach rumbled. And then you said "Toilet"... It's OK, just nature's call. Just keep your head low for the time being. _,,,^.^,,,_ |

Great write, faterider...and its true, when visiting any foreign country, the first words you should learn are "where's the bathroom?" ~ear to ear hugs for this one Lyra |

LOL, this one jogged my memory banks, and yes, when traveling abroad, you need to learn all that WC (water closet)jargon. "Montezuma's revenge" or "the traveler's trots." HAHA. You are so funny! |
