I watched him
eating popcorn
and thought that I
might just as well
attach a feedbag to his face...
He grew two more inches overnight.
and MY GOD WHAT IS THAT NOISE?
ARTILLERY...egads!
he's building bombs--
I rush to his room
to discover
him
at his computer...
farting
into MY microphone
(when did he sneak that in here?)
amplifying
and adding echo
until he aptly
finds the soundtrack
for this war of growth
within his bowels...

I heard a strange voice
in the house one night
and realized that the man
lurking within
was HIM--
the voice of the choirboy
forever gone
and I feel sorrow
and pride--
TORN
between mourning and celebration...

Who is this man that calls me MOM?
Soon
he'll tower over me
but always
ever
I will pray
that we see eye to eye.

Serenity--I know just what you mean..you have said it with humor in the chaos--that is how a mom survives.

This was awesome Serenity.  I loved the ending on this one, you have a way of drawing the reader in.  *s*

I love your wit, and the ending was tender and perfect, I'm sure all mothers hold tight to that~

OMG!  Don't even get me started on stories about my son...worry Karen, when they actually take a torch (yes a torch) and I saw them all standing there mooning, while they lit those wonderous gasious emissions in a contest to see whose shot the farthest!  ROTFLMBO up here, been there, done that!  That is how boys become men, haven't you noticed there is not much difference (know I will pay for that remark)!

Serenity~ my son will be nine in a little less than a month......please tell me this is a joke....tell me he won't really do this......ROTFL.....right now he just blows on his arm and makes the gross sounds....LOL....I know it's only gonna get worse......my sides hurt from this, at the same time, it makes me upset, I'm not ready for my baby boy to be a big guy, everyday I look at him and see him changing, and its scaring the heck out of me.....

hehe Luscious, Daniel is 8 and he is fascinated by farts, GOD help me! Do you mean to tell me his fascination wont subside as he heads for the teen years?

Sounds as though he'd get along just fine with your son.

Loved this hon

Mom's and Dad's - Karen...let's start a discussion on the discussion forum of funny things our kids have done.  We all need a good laugh, what do you say?  If anyone is up to it, put your kid's funniest moment there, should be fun!

LOL!    I know just the feeling.  He once made the gross sounds by blowing on his arm also.  Now he makes them by...well, you know.    Boys can be so disgusting, but I hate seeing my little one grow up.  He's thirteen now and I can see him leaving home in the not too distant future.  This was wonderful and your wit is great!

(big hugggssssss) Oh Karen, I know just how you feel; though I am not a parent and am only 17 (going on 18 in two weeks) I feel for parents who cry for the loss of innocence in their children, and I too pray that forever a mother and her child can always feel for each other like they did before. (sigh) What a wonderful bittersweet poem about the joys and worries of adolescence and parenting! (big hugggsssssss) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Ah, serenity..ROTFLMAO.I'm wondering...does the man with the biggest heart also have the...well, you know what I mean.
I'll have to drop in on the parenting link later (not Linkletter) and tell you one about GIRLS. Not that my sweet Sara EVER does anything as gross as your son, but...
Thanks for the laugh, I really needed one today.
PS. Did he ever get that echo and the amplitude just right????

Miditesun... am laughing again...because, my son? He shares a birthdate with a member of this forum---and, there must be SOMETHING to astrology, wouldn't you say, CHRISTOPHER?

LOL I have two boys, ages 8 and 5.  My 8 year old has reeled in my 5 year old on the farting thing, and sometimes they giggle and laugh so much that I think they're gonna die if they don't BREATHE!  But the weirdest thing is this:  I find my husband at his SEXIEST, when he's down in the middle of the floor playing with them (and yes they have farting contests sometimes, too).  I just sit back (FAR FAR back) and enjoy the moment of watching my family together. (and NO I don't think I will join them at any time in the future)
