Encrusted jewels surround your crown I'll drink your dregs from night till sun Passion a draught, to drink or drown Your luscious lips wine red in flower Play the fife within dream's bower You are the wine within my cup Red ruby wine of which I sup You leave me breathless wanting more In passion's wine I lose heart sore You are wine's chalice of burnished gold Precious and fair, beauteous as well A stemmed, slender waist I boldly hold Deep in your eyes, I yearn to dwell Your eyes hold secrets I would find To glimpse your soul, brings bliss to mind The taste of you upon my lips I drink you down in gulps or sips You are the one whom I adore The one for whom I'd die for The glimmering light within you bowl Reflects the light from deep inside To slake my lust and make me whole From you I drink my passion's pride You fill me up, with you I soar Chalice of love you make me roar Your love's touch goes to my head In drunken taste of cherry red You are the one, receive my heart Oh wine of love, we shall not part You are wine's chalice I drink from you You are the wine and passion true This cup of grace I long to hold The draught of you is strong and bold You are the cup taken to my bed I taste your wine the day we're wed Those of us who refuse to risk and grow get swallowed up by life. Kethry this is truly a beautifu poem....I love the reference to wine and cup it's brings out the high quality of this writing.......this is great work my sweet little picnic partner....take care The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges. |

Thanks everyone, This was inspired by Hardrock who writes about women and wine with such passion it makes me want to match him. Kethry Those of us who refuse to risk and grow get swallowed up by life. Patty Hansen. |

Kethry, I like this... very romantic. Beautifully penned. Poeminister "I drank at every vine/The last was like the first I came upon no wine/ So wonderful as the thirst" ~Millay |

The taste of you upon my lips I drink you down in gulps or sips You are the one whom I adore The one for whom I'd die for The glimmering light within you bowl Reflects the light from deep inside To slake my lust and make me whole From you I drink my passion's pride You fill me up, with you I soar Chalice of love you make me roar =============== Kethry this is the COOLEST POEM!!! what a very cool idea ... to write one verse as the chalice and the other as the wine.. VERY CREATIVE!! and then lets talk about the passion and sensual overtones... then the imagery and way cool metaphor comparisons.. then lets talk about the cadence and way cool vocabulary choices very well done write on poet-girlie your pen is on fire... this is as excellent as that sonnet of yours I read the other day. As sure as God made wine you can't wrap your arms around a memory In the dark for me youre the candle flame that flickers to life ~Mission UK~ |

This is wonderful, Kethry!!! Cup and wine, both needing each other, merged with perfection. This may only be your second love poem, but it's a gem! *S* |
