you forgot to call waiting was what i did best for two years running, but waiting was ok when it was for you I quit going for my walks I might miss your beckon call I gave up lunch, you were my food you were more than enough, you were my all smiles and laughter were rewards for waiting merriment always followed your name so when you were busy I was too, time spent wisely left room for play a month went by before I noticed that all my work was done, I had even organized my recycle bin, for your absence I made excuses, you must have forgotten with life's pressures your thoughts of me and fun were stolen of course, that was it you just didn't have time to play and so I waited even more you didn't call its been a year and I start to forget now what it is I am waiting for the sound of our laughter now long gone, disintegrated into a friendship left with only one I finally stopped waiting today my feet treated me to a walk I smiled to see the children playing in the park I thoroughly enjoyed an ice cream cone and the park bench accompanied me into the sunset I finally stopped waiting today because you forgot to call [This message has been edited by zoe (edited 02-15-2001).] |

Very nostalgic and musical feel to this...I like the idea of you forgot to call... nicely done!! Reality seldom bears the possibilities of imagination! |

smiles and laughter were rewards for waiting merriment always followed your name so when you were busy I was too, time spent wisely left room for play How my heart aches for the days when my schedule reflected another's... I wonder when and why we became forgettable? But I love the way this poem doesn't dwell on questions that can't be answered... but instead finds smiles and laughter... even if, for the time being, they have to be observed rather than experienced. *S* Well done!! (Now share some of that ice cream! *G*) |
