OK guys ... this one's for Mark's challenge to me from another thread here, LOL!: /pip/Forum42/HTML/001574.html

Mark said:
Okay my friend, here is your challenge.  It must be an acrostic spelling my full name "Mark Christopher Bohannan" and it must be about a cowboy in the rodeo.  There ya go, the clock is ticking on this one.  Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention...it must have at least one graphic attached. LOL
***

Well Mark, I saw your note at 10:53pm and it's now 12:01 as I'm typing this ... Phew! Roped and tied in record time, just for you! Now you've gotta know that this one was TOUGH!!!

Yeeehaw ... ride 'em Cowboy!!!

Rodeo Dreams - For Mark Bohannan

Magical dreams of yesterday
A hundred years or more,
Resurrected western-style, where
Kindred spirits soar.

Cowboys riding steeds of fire ...
Hands upon the reins,
Riding bucking broncos
In the ring of life, "one" braved.
Seven seconds, he held on
Tried desperately to stay,
On muscled back, he clung to life,
Performed his best that day.
His palms were sweaty, mind a whirl,
Electrified he seemed,
Resplendent in this ring he rode, while

Battered by his steed.
Obstinate, determined, yet
He finally heard the sound ...
And promptly jumped to free himself
Now landing safe to ground.
Noble ride ... the masses cheer!
As hearts are overcome ...
Now raising hat toward the crowd, he bows ... this fight he's won!

Kit, this is so good, absolutely great. You've certainly met and matched the challenge, I'd say. Well done.

Okay, so I read this right after you posted it and was going to reply to it poetically but then after my usual 45 minutes sleep lol...I decided not to even try.   It would never match up to this and besides, I don't even pretend to be able to write right now as you have me all choked up for writing such a beautiful piece.  You of course know that it is going in my library and being printed don't you.  Well, course you do.

Kit, this is what I was talking about when I said you ALWAYS step up and meet my challenges and this PROVES without a shadow of a doubt that not only are you willing to take a challenge but that you meet and exceed them to no end.  You my friend are a true "POET".  Thank you so much for this and for you.  You know I love you it and for you.

Kit, you are amazing! I have never tried this style but it looks pretty hard and you did it so quickly. If I had half your talent I would be very lucky.
(I think it also helps that I love rodeos and cowboys!)

~Sunshine:  LOL, thanks Sunshine! Mark posted  this challenge in my "thank you" thread I noted above. He keeps me poetically hopping, he does!

~JanetMarie:  Smiling here ... JM, what would I do without your later-gators, ya just make my day everytime! Thanks so much for the wonderful words!

~Marsha:  Thanks Marsha ... I knew he was watching the clock on this one! I went promptly to sleep right after, lol!

~Brian:  Glad you enjoyed and were inspired for a midnight ride Brian! Thanks so much!

~Dee:  That was so lovely Dee, thank you. I too, love the rodeo (everything except calf roping I'll add), and have been to a few. My work used to take me back and forth to Texas, and my clients took us to a few. It was great fun!

~Mark: Ok, so the poem was done in under an hour, it was the graphic and the bolding that slowed me down, LOL!

As always, this was wonderful fun Mark! I do enjoy your challenges!!! This one was perfect, as I don't believe I'd done an acrostic before (think I tried but didn't like the results), and I've actually ridden a bucking bronco ya know ... TRUE!

My dad bought a beautiful 4 yr. old quarter horse named Dutch when I was about 10 (a "few" years ago, lol). We used to board her at a farm, and we'd go out to ride on the weekend. Well, little did we know, she'd gotten into a huge bag of oats  the one day (which I guess makes them basically drunk?). Anyway, dad plunks timid me on Dutch, and off she cantered (I'd never gone faster than that), but part way to the woods, she turned on her own, and started to gallop. I was holding on for dear life as she ran back toward the barn. Then she suddenly slowed and stopped and started to buck right in front of everyone. They figured I held on for about 12 good rodeo kicks before I lost the reins and fell into the brush! I didn't get hurt though, but I sure bruised my pride, and something else!

Now don't laugh too hard, I have a few pics of Dutch on my website. I'm only about 13 in this pic, but dad's on Dutch, and I'm on Moon (so needless to say, I did get back on the horse, LOL!) ... Thanks for the fun Mark!   http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/5407/horses.jpg

Much appreciation to all,
/Kit

So my sweet friend.  Ya don't mind that I came back to relish in my wonderful poem a bit do ya?  I have this printed and framed on my wall you know.  To tell you the truth, even if it wasn't for me I would probably have printed it.  This is an amazing poem in every sense and to have one penned for me by request that stands on it's own so beautifully means the world to me.  I would have never and could really never have hoped that a poem this beautiful could have been mine.  Means more to me than any other poem ever could.  Thank you once again.   {Big HUGE cowboy hugs to you}
