Save your soul Make a deal with me Tickets to Heaven ain't going cheap Your sins will cost you a nominal fee Your wallet's empty, the slate's wiped clean Make no mistake If you're looking for the truth Then I have the answers you seek Might be a knock on your door On Christmas day Is it Jesus selling faith to the weak? Guaranteed afterlife Buy insurance from me Lifetime payments feeding holy greed Selling faith to the masses, all races and classes Different permutations of the same beliefs Your body and soul Ain't no use to me Make a contribution Please give generously Make my truth your cause Though it comes at a price You just might get to Heaven If the bribe is right Make no mistake If you're looking for the truth Then I have the answers you seek Might be a knock on your door On Christmas day Is it Jesus selling faith to the weak? Big business religion Same old empty vision The meaning and price never change Whether I'm God, Christ or Satan I make no concessions, everyone's cheated the same Make no mistake If you're looking for the truth Then I have the answers you seek Might be a knock on your door On Christmas day Is it Jesus selling faith to the weak? I was rammed into So Baptist, married a Catholic, studied more ISUMS I can count, followed No. American Indians ways, apprentice under a shaman, attended spiritual physic camps in the early 70's Transadental meditation, Tai Chi, wore an orange robe for awhile, (do you know what that was haha guess) dove into the oriental philosophies. Then just decided to be me. haha. Love the work kid. haha Joel. I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel. |

FJ....The commercialization of religion is one of the worst things to happen to this country. It corrupted values, invited schemers and turned off several generations to what might have given them peace and solace in their lives. Everyone needs something to believe in....whether Hairy Thunderer or Cosmic Muffin, we all need a base from which to venture forth and develop who we are and what we are to become. This poem speaks to one man's eschew of that commercialization. Well done. Hardrock |

i understand this very well cause i don't go the chruch or read the bible but i still have my own views and ideas on life and the people so into religion think of me as some evil person or at least my best friends parents. well loved the work and keep it up. I'm a dying romantic and when i can no longer write i can no longer live -Jeremiah Johnson- |
