I sit beneath green canopy .....In shade of towering oak, Reflecting on the paths not took .....Of words I've never spoke. I gaze above at shimmering leaves .....As sun's light filters through, Oasis in the summer heat .....Beneath the sky so blue. I hear sweet songs of nightingale .....Upon the summer breeze, And see the dance of Terpsichore .....Amongst the oaken leaves. Within the limbs a universe .....Protected by oak's boughs, And on this beauteous summer day .....Majestic oak allows... A simple man to touch the gods .....In boughs of nature's grace Allowed in splendor to repose .....In this, gods' special place. In summer of my eighteenth year .....I took you as my wife, For eight and twenty years you've been .....The tree that shades my life. [This message has been edited by Tim (edited 06-28-99).] |

A husband, and a romantic. Not necessarily something that can be found in every male being. Your wife is extremely lucky; as I am sure you are as well. Thank you. |

So hard to express great love without sounding trite. You did it expertly. Thank you. |

I thank you all for your very kind comments. But I do have to wonder how someone who was married at eighteen and been married twenty-eight years can only be thirty-seven years old. Oh well, I was not a math major. |

You truely created a beautiful image here in my eyes. It was wonderful to read a poem written by a man who is very devoted to his wife, no matter how many years it may be. |

Feeble attempt at humor Lost Dreamer, the poem was for our 28th wedding anniversary a couple of weeks ago... I might be a shade older than 37...(46) I did however want to thank you for the kind comment... |
