Crusader in a war divine The livery I wear is fine The cross I bear upon my breast Ensures I'm on a holy quest All to God's glory, so I claim I smite thee in His holy name I think upon my dying Lord Your lack of faith sews disaccord No quarter given and none taken Godless ways must be forsaken Because we don't believe the same I smite thee in His holy name The stench of death upon the field The foolish heathens will not yield Their blood is thick upon my sword I give to them their just reward All infidels must die in flame I smite thee in His holy name Alarms resound in dead of night Surprised I rise to join the fight My God shall heed me in my need I search and find my trusty steed Sending thee back from whence thou came I smite thee in His holy name A thrusting pike that finds the mark My blood a river crimson dark My final thought, my enemy Is just another man like me Before my God I bow in shame I killed His children in His name ------------------ Steven Seaman |

Well, this poem settles it. I will automatically read everything you put on as soon as I see it. By far, your best. |

I thank you very much Balladeer. I, like everyone else here, seek out your poems already. I am glad that you have found some redeeming qualitites in my work. By the way can you suggest a book title that has various poetic types defined? I would like to try my hand at varied styles of poetry. |

There are certainly many reference books you could consult - I have sitting by my elbow "The Poet's Companion - A Guide to the Pleasures of Writing Poetry", by Kim Addonizio and Dorianne Laux (WW Norton & Co - New York, London). This one covers a plethora of different poetic formats. You might also check out this sub-page of the main Passions site - http://netpoets.com/learning/index.htm - You'll find lots of good stuff there...
