This poem is a result from a little trip I took to San Francisco yesterday and, also, it's formatted to meet a not really recent challenge that was given by Balladeer in the 'Poetry Workshop' forum. Painted Ladies of San Francisco Envelope Couplets Amongst the Painted Ladies dressed like pearls that make a narrow path and boundless curl with ornamental flavor and with frills about the open bosom, so the hills extended once toward heaven have been hurled amongst the Painted Ladies dressed like pearls. Amongst the Painted Ladies dressed like pearls, Saint Francis now adorned for all the world sits leisurely excluded on the bay with cable cars and Castro District gays who once were boys but now have changed to girls amongst the Painted Ladies dressed like pearls. Amongst the Painted Ladies dressed like pearls, the fog supports Embarcadero swirls of visionary suits who've come to be the melting pot of all society wherein does modern industries unfurl amongst the Painted Ladies dressed like pearls. Painted Ladies = Victorian style homes [This message has been edited by Lighthousebob (04-26-2013 12:56 PM).] |

Haha! Yeah, the Castro gays and the bosoms pointed toward heaven is a good mix of San Fran, at least it was when I made the trip from Los Angeles a few times back in the sixties and seventies. Beautiful architecture in that town. Ya did good, Bob. ~*~ How does Moses make his tea? Hebrews it. ~*~ |

Thanks Jerry... I'm glad you figured out my little nuances and, yes, I agree, the architecture is probably the most significant thing about SF and, though I did do a bit of sightseeing, my visit this time was mainly business. Had to see my doctor at UCSF. However, as a side note, mainly for the ladies, my daughter and her girl friends have found the Castro District seems to have the best nightclubs and they're hardly ever picked up on or bothered by the men. Go figure. |
