In a Kingdom, far away
Lived a kindly King named Ron
He hardly ever left his castle
Because his ‘puter was always on

But one day this Kingly gent
Thought a vacation would be nice
So he left his worldly possessions
In the care of his servant mice.

Tis often thought that mice
Will eat till the cupboards are clear
But these mice, well-fed and content
Told King Ron not to fear

“We promise to be good kind sir,
we won’t make even a small mess
We’ll turn off the lights, put out the cat
We won’t cause you distress!”

The King (a trusting man you see)
Agreed to leave them in control
And merrily went on his way
As the mice peeked from their hole.

The minute the King was out of sight
All hell broke loose in the house
Chandelier swinging, banister sliding
And a beer for every mouse!

Loud, drunken mice ran rampant
Painted the walls a sickly hue
And turned the castle upside down
To orange from royal blue

They ate, they danced, they caroused
Till all hours of the night
There was screaming, there was laughter
I think there was even one fight!

Passed out in drunken heaps snoozing
Their passions spent, hunger at bay
When King Ron rode up to the gate
This was his homecoming day!

King Ron opened his front door
And much to his surprise
Saw all his faithful servant mice
Mouths agape, gathering flies

“What goes on here” King Ron asked
“What mischief have you wrought?”
The mice jumped up guiltily
Embarrassed that they’d been caught

All blame was passed from mouse to mouse
Til no one really knew
The first to set the plan afoot
In the castle colored blue

“Twas me,” said Mouse deVine
“Twas my idea to egg them on
I thought we needed a little fun
I apologize King Ron”

“You must be punished, deVine”
Said the King with a glare
“So I’m going to tie you down
right here beside my chair

You will be my personal slave
Do my bidding night and day
You will have much work to do
And no time for silly play”

Mouse deVine accepted her fate
Knowing he would forget her in awhile
So she sat down next to King Ron
With a secret smile

This so cute. I think this was a cute idea. But I must say you could have picked better colors. But a change once in awhile is a good thing.

Poetry is beauty in words.

Oh Poet deVine I'm so glad its upon
Your head where will fall the wrath of Ron.
We will all run like the rats we are,
And take no blame as we watch from afar.

But it has been fun.  Joyce

I think you did a great job of keeping the place while he was gone, and I am sure you will get another chance one day.  We are not done "funning him" yet!

Glad to see you all used your sense of humor to a great use in his absense, and I am sure he enjoyed all this as much as you are.

ms.Devine,
As one grows old
sometimes will fade
their eye-sight might
miss a charade
and so confuse
conspiritors
as those of us
who use all fours
my point? as if
one need invent
just blame de Moose
with good intent.

deVine One, you are the cat's whiskers! You sprinkled some fun and sun while the Big Kahuna was away and I thoroughly enjoyed myself! All the posts were so entertaining!

This poem is totally adorable ~ as is its author!

I bet you even get a raise!  Heck anything someone else takes on and runs with deserves compensation doesn't it   Not to worry the head cheese was sure enjoying the antics me thinks.

Thank you all for joining in the fun! Sometimes we all need to just relax and kick up our heels. With all the distress and tension in our daily lives and in the world, it's not good to be SO serious all the time.

Smile at least once a day...life is too short not to enjoy it!!

Thank you Ron...for everything.
