Close To My Heart

As I sit here again, today
Thinking of you my friend
My heart is still aching
Because I don't understand

I am me, that's all I can be
And my friendship to you
Just like I said before
Will always be true

You're tucked away inside my heart
Right where you've always been
With precious memories too
Of when you and I were friends

I remember the love and kindness
You had once given me
Those uplifting words you had said
To help me be the best I could be

Maybe we will never talk again
Still, I have you safely tucked away
Right here inside this heart of mine
And that is where you will always stay

May God Bless You My Friend
And always keep you safe
For you are a dear friend I hold
Close to my heart each day

Listening to every heart

Dear Sue...

Many of my classmates met this weekend
for a 60's reunion. Not just my class,
but all of the classes from the time my
high school was built in 1964 through my
class of '69...and while several of them
called and emailed me to "please come"
there was just no way I could do it this
year.

But this poem reminded me that even
though several of us have regained some
connection in the last couple of years,
space and time and other events have kept
others from being able to reach out and
say, I remember, and I love you, too.

But this poem..this one should be sent
to all of them who at one time or another,
lifted us.

Sue, I like this a bunch. If I knew where a friend of mine from 20 years ago was, I would send it to her, for she is still there safely tucked inside my heart.

Like you, fine friend, I have friends tucked away in my heart that I no longer see. People move ~ life happens.

You stirred many emotions and memories with this sweet and sensitive poem. You are a beautiful woman and poetess.
