Ranting and raving Saying some relationships aren’t worth saving I sound so much like someone I know I’ve let myself get lost in the flow But I don’t want to be like this Standing all alone and shaking my fist Laying blame on everyone I see Cause in reality there’s no one to blame but me I wasn’t like this from the start I let my fury and pain corrupt my heart Became cynical and uncaring Forgot how to be compassionate and daring Looking in the mirror I don’t like what I see That horrible expression can’t be on me! All this time I’ve been walking around with this awful look on my face I’ve set myself on the sidelines when I should be in the race! How do you change when your so rooted in the ground? You can’t just turn yourself around Is it possible to love even if you not? In the end I should be very thankful for what I’ve got Wishing I would have seen this before Picking up the mirror pieces off the floor All the little shards of me I need to put back together It might just take me forever But I’ll try to exchange my broken parts For something far more special A new change of heart! Thanks to Magnus Your last comment really hit home. It truly made me look at things in a different light. I can see that the way I had acted really was no better than my father had acted towered me. (Two wrongs don't make a right) But I think we need to have people tell us these things. We can't always see what other people see. I can't say I'll ever speak to my father again (He'll probably never speak to me again either) But I can say that I know better than to be the way I am. We all need a shove in the right direction at times. In the end we need to forgive(some of us need to learn how to do it) But it's something I'll work on. Thanx again Magnus for being so insightful and giving me the little shove I've been needing. |

I again find myself wishing I could put things as simply and elegantly as you do. "Laying blame on everyone I see Cause in reality there’s no one to blame but me" This is something that everyone does, I think. I know I have. But you should also remember that not everything is your fault. Take the blame where you deserve to and no more. "I let my fury and pain corrupt my heart Became cynical and uncaring" As for this, if you let it do so all that fury and pain becomes something far worse. Indifference. Which is why I was very pleased to see your last stanza. It surely means you do not need a shove in the right direction, just a gentle nudge "The world won't end in darkness, it'll end in family fun |

Thankyou much! Happy you you took time to read!!! I have to say though that I've also found your poetry to be just as elegant and well worded as my own. (I'm still working on it!) |
