Around a Kitchen Table Around a kitchen table’s rim The love in which we all were raised Was sustenance for little hearts And nourishment for childhood days This table was the place we watched The stress of life impose its toll A haven for a tearful eye A sanctuary for the soul It’s here where youthful dreams were formed Where bitter heartaches were exposed It’s here where problems were discussed Where remedies and plans were posed It’s here where boyfriends came to call Where fathers met with fiancés Where daughter’s dreams were crystallized And mothers planned their wedding days It’s here where stories of the past Were etched with laughter into stone And these same moments we engrave Into the children of our own The humble words of supper grace As witnessed by our God above Were rituals set into place By reverence, respect and love I feel the anchor of my life The strength I foster deep within Is fixed on solid wooden legs And ‘round a kitchen table’s rim |

This takes me back to when my family actually had time to sit around a dinner table. I truly enjoyed this poem! Thankyou...Kira |

I will sure vouch that table sits right in your kitchen's heart. Anyone who sits at it takes a piece of it home with them to spread their own newly learned "Lizzie Love." Beautiful m'friend, simply beautiful. |
