leading on a southern fringe
I feel like an extra in escape from new york
wondering when the others will appear
cards are shuffled
seats taken
betting it all
on the hand I've got
living on the edge
where life and death are but a heartbeat away
standing on a tightrope
and all I can do is wait
a pair of two's with Ace high
nothing much to look at really
but sometimes it's just enough
no way to know till you take that chance
life may be the longest thing I'll ever do
but it's still just a stepping stone
to comming home to you
pair of two's, ace high
that's really what anyone ever has
no one wants to admit it though
sometimes we fold
sometimes we pass
still others we just follow along
but I'm gonna grab hold and take it
I'm gonna own the edge for just one second
with a pair of two's and ace high
