4091 Fruits and Berries 14 July 2005 To the girl from Mayberry who gives others hope Her kindness in gentle touch to gather in the sheaves and elope A runaway child —left alone Her heartbeat felt on mercy to atone This Wednesday’s sibling as to any day of the week Given from heaven in a smile from cheek to cheek Her happiness a hug her gentleness a kiss And to her heart goes words like this Mayberry - better known as the rural southern town on the US television sitcom THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW/CBS/1960-68. Located somewhere in the eastern portion of North Carolina near the Virginia border, with a population of 5260, Mayberry was the home of Sheriff Andy Taylor (Andy Griffith), his Aunt Bee Taylor (Frances Bavier) and his small son, Opie (Ronny Howard). Assisting Andy was his well-meaning but bumbling cousin, Deputy Barney Fife (Don Knotts). The towns other of citizens included Gomer Pyle (Jim Nabors), a gas pumper and mechanic at Wally's Filling Station; Helen Crump (Aneta Corsaut), Opie's elementary school teacher and Andy's future wife; Floyd Lawson (Howard McNear), the town's only barber; Otis Campbell (Hal Smith), an alcoholic who often slept off his drunken stupors at the Mayberry jailhouse; Howard Sprague (Jack Dodson), the County Clerk; Emmett Clark (Paul Hartman), the town's fix-it man; Thelma Lou (Betty Lynn), Barney's longtime girlfriend; and Clara Edwards (Hope Summers), the town's gossip and friend of Aunt Bee's. When Barney left Mayberry, Warren Ferguson (Jack Burns) took over as deputy. © 2006 Christopher W Herbert (a New Zealand Poet) a poet who cares |

I enjoyed this very much! It reminds me of someone I know. Lovley. |
