The Nightmare The windows rattled one by one The darkness cracked enough for me to see As a shadow moved with stealthy desire And I ran And locked windows and doors tight Raced against an evil intrusion Fingers fumbled at the locks Pulled at door knobs, ensured they would not open Terror coursed through my bloodstream And still he came Pullws at each door Unspoken demands to open them I stumbled over a lack of time One mistake is all it took to invite him in Assurances to not invade were empty promises He left But returned with a smile The joke was on me and he came to visit. My eyes opened to the darkness Fingers clumsily fumbled for the light It shone upon my fear as I hid in tangled bedding. aziza [This message has been edited by aziza (09-25-2006 02:06 AM).] |
