Lost in the quiet still of a mountain crag Well beyond the first signs of morning Beyond the fiery sun, and night’s stars I rest solitaire, sitting atop this granite stone Still the silence mocked my empty thoughts And filled the trees with empty breeze And stilled the mist that hung round there Till nothing much happened after that The rock sat in the same old place Dead things lay just where they fell And the breeze blew by, still silent more On the breath of lost expectations And this, in all its might Gathered strength enough to shake The mountain [This message has been edited by Robert Frazier (09-01-2006 04:30 PM).] |

I got lost in thought with this piece. These were my favorite lines though "And the breeze blew by, still silent more On the breath of lost expectations" Nicely done, Robert. |

This is very well done--I like the way you make something momentous out of a "non-event." Good read. Cheers, Bill |

"Lost in the quiet still of a mountain crag Well beyond the first signs of morning Beyond the fiery sun, and night’s stars I rest solitaire, sitting atop this granite stone" ~ I wanted to stay in that moment! I enjoyed the peace and tranquility of communing with nature. Thank you, James. ![]() Love & Nature's Light, Linda |

Robert~ The title alone is poetic ... a wonderful doormat that led me into the beauty of this piece~ 'the breeze blew by, still silent more On the breath of lost expectations And this, in all its might Gathered strength enough to shake The mountain' I feel the all of this one~ *Huglets* ![]() ~*Marge*~ ~*The sound of a kiss is not as strong as that of a cannon, but it's echo endures much longer*~ |
