I have no claim on September -
It is to winter's bleak I belong
Not this month of pensive remember
When summer's song
Whispers last quiet notes of promise
That spring will come again.

How easily promises are broken
And unspoken discord
Bends fragile hope in bitter wind
Faith crumbles readily as leaves
When shiver is just a breath away.
Nothing can still the mourning.

Cleverly written ~ and yet, ever so wistful.

A reflective and pensive piece of poetry that  somehow wraps the reader in a blanket of sweet sorrow.

Remember, Sweet Suthern One, spring always returns to breathe new life into our days.

You are such a lovely poetess.

Giving you a warm, hug-o-love,
Linda

This is but one more look at the depth of your gift. A stunning work.

It's good to see you, Ruth!  My birthday has always been this day...sometimes it's the first of fall, sometimes the last of summer.  I'm sorry it's a sad time for you.

Some folks have the depth, and some don't....and it seems we almost never know ahead of time, who will.

I KNOW which you are.....and this poem shows it so well.

PS: Thank you so much! *S* It's good to be here. *S*

EA:You dear. *S* I've really never handled the coming of winter well... even though I am November's child. *S* I may hate the south's heat, but I need its sun... when the skies are gray, so's my mood. *S* Now, of course... the fall is a time of such sad anniversaries. Thank you so much!!

seraphin: What an incredibly kind thing to say... thank you so very much! *S*

Martie: In the past few years, I've learned to celebrate my birthday... and me... and it makes an amazing difference. *S* But I still want spring to hurry up! LOL Thank you!!

iliana: Thank you so very much... I'm glad you find beauty in the sadness... very glad. *S*

luminosity: I know, my friend... I know... and I'd willingly give up my birthday (especially if that meant I wouldn't have to get any older *G*) and Thanksgiving... just to wipe November off the map... for both of us. Thank you so much!!

Ratleader: Your kind words mean so much to me, my friend... and yes... I know which type you are, too... I think the term is blessing? *S*

LeeJ: Thank you so much, kind lady... and yes... that's it... bitter and sweet both. *S*

SweetSuthernFriend~
When the flipping pages of the calendar cannot be stilled ... I try to find something among the memories of the past to cling to~

I, too, long for the Spring to stay with me,
no matter what the calendar says~

The memories, the memories ... often keep me mired in October ... but this year, I'm trying to remove it from the wall ... I shall just stay mired in the September of my days~
(Heck, you KNOW I won't be able to do it, anymore than I can stop the rain !)
But ... I will try ... or cry trying~

LOVE TO YOU~

I think if Sunshine moved southeast, we could
put some light on things and help the mood
a little bit....

I am not too fond of the weather being that
way either....But, I guess that is what a
coat is for, huh?
