There is so much I want to say And yet my mind can’t form the words I open my mouth to say my piece And my thoughts scatter like frightened birds. I feel a mute, alone and silent Though sometimes I must lash out There’s no other way; I am in a cage Trapped, not really knowing what life is about. I could explain if I really tried But frightened am I of judgment and jeers So I’m quiet and distant and I keep it inside And simply sit in my cage and pass the years. But oh! To have a single soul Who knows the bars of cages well Who might listen and tell of their own inner locks And who remembers the instant their confidence fell. For now, however, I sit and wait And pass the years as though they were days I wait and watch for a salvation of soul To help me find my way out of this inner maze. Grey Matter Custom Images |
