Well then, douse some more of that beer on the burning flames...because I can't think of one poem of yours that I could find worthy of burning. YET.... We do hit that stride when we believe every thought we ever had is nothing but something for the toilet. Well... get off the pot. Because I know yours, isn't. So there. |

Oh, but I'm keepin' my files, yep..... I just got tired of looking at those tired old pieces of paper, and the metaphor set sail on me when I decided to burn the dang things....fire going in the chiminea where I'm burning bush branches I cut this afternoon....and.... ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

your poems are hot, but not to be burned, Ratleader! They have always been among my favorite! (But... I do understand! I have artwork I'd love to burn, but I keep it around to show a years growth... At seeing the change, I feel much better!) Great to steal a little time to be here! I miss reading your poetry and that of others. And... writing for that matter! Take care, misc [This message has been edited by miscellanea (09-15-2006 08:35 PM).] |

I burnt a letter once....I wrote it to someone who was already passed who had hurt me...I basically said what I would have said if I'd been able to say it in person. It sort of helped. Back up is a blessing! |

"white to orange to black to gone" It's almost like the cycle of life or something. Does that make sense? Course, I am sitting here eating Life with dried cranberries, finding the combination to almost be a philosophical statement. I live in my own world, I think. aziza |

Ahgh! (gasping here) Fire fodder? Burning your poetry (or diaries) IS burning branches, a fatal metaphor. I'm so relieved for the phoenix in the ashes! |

RatMan~ I contemplated a burn once ... but only once ... and thankfully a wise voice came and blew the thought away~ Word-paper, I can touch, feel ... make it all real again~ I can see the teardrops, hold the joy close~ I don't know ... those 'files' just don't get it done for me~ It's that old 'strokes n' folks' thang, I reckon~ But then again ... my children would tell you that their mother NEVER threw away ANYTHING remotely nostalgic or sentimental~ *HUGLETS* ~*Marge*~ ~*The sound of a kiss is not as strong as that of a cannon, but it's echo endures much longer*~ |

They may look the same as any other paper... but they're not... no more than gold is the same as any other metal. *S* I now give most sincere thanks for backup. *S* Don't you be destroying treasure! *S* |

Ed, it is even worse when you lose your back-up copies off of the old computer. I hate burning cds.... Pleased that it was not your stash of keepers that were getting the old crispy critter. |

I've often wondered if I set fire to my poems what color the flames would be, certainly with the bllod put into them they'd be a vivid red. I've shreded quite a number but never burned them, perhaps that would be the ultimate catharisis. I have to agree with Sunshine, can't think of a one of your poems I'd set to flame...and I certainly wouldn't burn this one Ruth |

I dont know about you but i cannot learn poems by heart? So i thought the poem was going to be about burning them into your memory, turns out to be much better than that, you mentioned having a beer while burning, but phew glad you had them on file, what a wate and loss that would have been, enjoyed the read Ed thank you... I can't memorize my own, that's for sure -- there might be two or three out of all my poems that I could recite if I had to, and I usually couldn't do it, even the short ones, half an hour after I've written 'em. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |
