Softening of Hearts It took my heart to soften to see how my Dads heart had softened, many years before mine. While I was a young man, serving in the military in Germany, he gave my prized car away to my sister and at the time it made me angry with him. It was many years later, when my heart had went through a softening, that I realized that at that moment, his heart had softened, and he was just trying to help one of his children in need. JamesLee 14September 2006 I always thought that my Father had a hard heart in many ways, but if I look back, I can see times when his heart softened. |

Fuuny how when we mature we look back and realise why our parents did certain things, which at the time we didn't understand at all. Heart hugs~Nancy ~Autumn, the year's last, loveliest smile~ |

Your poems always seem to pull me in and make me think. This one definitely did that -- thank you. I think parents make mistakes with the best of intentions .. sometimes that does not make them easier to forgive. But, see, you got me thinking. aziza |

Thank you Enchantress, aziza and iliana for the nice responses. Although I feel like my dad made many mistakes, in the above mentioned writing, I am thankful that I was able to see that his choice was wise and giving...it helps to soften my heart when I can see the soft side of my dads heart.James |
