Fireflies Into The Sun On and on like a hurricane closed eyes in the stinging rain one and one like a bride and groom green smile and a crying loon I think I felt love too soon Like fireflies into the sun a baptism of light for everyone everyone whose hearts are one anyway anyday rain will disappear 'round me, spring will abound in me and I'll fall into the sun without fear I want to smell berries in the night I want my hands to cling to your hips to see me all right pretty smile, please carve me with your lips 'cause I want to feel more as I walk out this door and let the night cut my skin just to let a little moon in Like fireflies into the sun a light like I've never done in song or in poem couldn't say wouldn't stray from the true beauty that lies there I wanna brush it from your hair and press it to my mind so I can imprison the time T.S. Eliot lives again cut me open to let the words in It comes like a summer lawn and goes like a winter dawn I've great company in the starless Arctic sea that freezes all the wonder out of me to fall back into your gaze like a firefly neon city under that violet sky so very lovely tonight Like fireflies into the sun love spins the chamber in the gun every little beat of my heart is done I'm impaled on a rose so here goes: give to me all autumn and pearls wring out of me the verbal symphony you deliciously vicious red haired girl On and on like a summer night over and over like a strobe light behind my eyes there's hope hang the coat and cut the rope just let a little moon into me this city really is quite lovely under creamy skies like me, the sun and fireflies "Hey, it's me, I'm dynamite and I don't know why" -- Van Morrison, 'Sweet Thing' |
