every step
is a staircase
leading
to the feet
of Jesus
the Christ
who distributes
wooden flutes
carved
from a cynical cross.

in Utopia
eulogies
are delivered
by strangers
who arrive
in taxis
driven
by the miracle
of coincidence

in Utopia
yesterday
or tomorrow
is there
like the last
candy
in the hand
of a child
