In a moment of infinite loss to these poetry boards,
(Well, two thirds loss cause Toerag always mangles words)
'Deer, Toe and Long John found themselves on a Christmas Day,
Talking to St. Peter, just outside the pearly gates.

All three characters knew their chances would be slim
For getting past St. Peter, and spending eternity within.
But St. Peter was feeling charitable, and had prepared a test,
The scalawags and Long John had to answer St. Peter's one request.

"Just show a piece of evidence that Christmas was on your mind,
When you met your timely fate and left the world behind.
Search through your pockets now, and if you can reveal,
A piece of Christmas with you, then your sentence will be repealed."

Long John stepped forward, his car keys in his hand,
"What's this," St. Peter questioned, failing to understand.
"Whenever I hear my car keys jingling," St. Peter heard Long John reply,
"I think of church bells ringing Christmas on that silent night."

Next Balladeer stepped forward, his Bic lighter flame alight,
"What's this," St. Peter questioned, marvelling at the sight.
"Whenever I light a cigarette (it's why I'm here today),
I think of the Wise men using the Star to guide them on their way."

Poor Toerag was at a loss, he had only silk panties in his hand,
"What's this," St. Peter questioned, completely failing to understand.
"I remember why I'm here tonight, a jealous husband was my demise.
"These panties remind me of my last Christmas, they're Carol's!" Toerag replied.

Yep - that scalawag Toe is gonna get his just desserts!

Merry Christmas to you all, and Happy Hannukah to you all, too.  And similar wishes to everybody else.  May you all have a blessed year of peace and happiness.

LngJhnAg,
If I were ST. Peter. I wouldn't let none of you in. Your remindes were much too thin.
But I missed you big guy how have you been?
Big Merry Christmas.

Just like Santa, you came, left gifts
and love, and left.  Not to visit for
another year.

Happy Holidays, LJA!

Didn't Saint Peter realize that Earth's loss would have been Heaven's gain?!?

Howdy LJ! Long time no see! As always, I enjoyed the wit and charm of your poetry! Don't be such a stranger!

May the coming New Year be a joyous one for you and your loved ones!

Warm, welcome-back, Holiday Hugs,
