Grandmother Taught!

Sage burn the smoke is rising, prayers lifted to the Four Winds feel
their words on hair and cheeks know soon Creator speaks.
Tobacco share in seven directions face the Four and ask for
blessings, ties hanging in the trees touched by wind prayers released.
Selu sacred food gift of Creator, through the cold time long and
dark you provide strength and give us hope to survive our darkest hours.
What is life without prayers, the same as food with no seasons, bland
but not sustaining, soon we would be seeking for a need there is no
explaining.
Father Sky overhead filled with mystery and wonder,Mother Earth
beneath my feet solid loving comfort,Four Winds different directions
carry prayers to Creator.
Sacred water a living thing whispers chuckles sings, across the
rocks across the land in a bed of its own making to the oceans then
returned in snow and rain as it should be.
Fire leap light the night dance and move so alive, sacred gift from
our Creator,we tend the fire this is the center of our lives.
Elders, children, teachers, this is our past and our future, all these
things remind me Creator made all life to follow a Circle.
Respect, honor, truth, and humbleness this is the connection of our
quest, treat all you meet as beloved guest this is our road to happiness.
These are the things grandmother taught me to do my duty with love
and honor,to walk the Red Road with honest heart,to clean the Earth and
keep the balance!

Grandmother taught you well, for wisdom
had been earned by her grandmother's
teachings.

Thank you, Dekanogi Ulogilv

Grand-lovely, perfectly powerful ‘write’! (and what a wonderful-wise grandmother!)

I will be reading this again and again...‘til half past eternity! [this ‘write’ wafts
along the ‘immortal plane’!]....

Superb imagery...such as:

“Sage burn the smoke is rising, prayers lifted to the Four Winds”
“...ties hanging in the trees touched by wind prayers released”

“Father Sky overhead filled with mystery and wonder, Mother Earth
beneath my feet solid loving comfort...”

To a one time ‘doodlebugging’ field geologist such as myself,
this one is especially 'truly magnificent'!:

“Sacred water a living thing whispers chuckles sings, across the
rocks across the land in a bed of its own making to the oceans then
returned in snow and rain as it should be.”

Again...the above reminds me of Tennyson’s imagery such as:

There rolls the deep where grew the tree
O mother Earth, what changes hast thou seen!
There where the long street roars,
Hath been the stillness of a silent sea.
The hills are but shadows, and they flow
From form to form, and nothing stands;
They melt like mist, these ‘solid’ lands,
Like clouds they shape themselves and go!........

ABSOLUTELY!:

“Respect, honor, truth, and humbleness this is the connection of our
quest, treat all you meet as beloved guest this is our road to happiness.”

wow!! (I could write pages on the 'importance' of this 'write'!!)

Sigi Secondhanddreampoet, nidvlenvda aya adanvdo! What was taught by the grandmothers is for the teaching seven generation into the future, for we believe Mother Earth does not belong to us but is a gift shared by our grandchildren,we are taught how do you wish those to come to see what is you did with such a sacred gift!
blessings!

Sigi Roniec Dawson-Bruce I am deeply honored by your words,I am in truth a very shy person, who stutter badly as a child, and so grandparents taught a different way to do the story telling. My words came with grandfathers drum it was the only way I could speak, and grandmother taught write the old words the same to the drum beat.
